Tienda dogs in Puerto Vallarta

I have yet to see one cat since we arrived

in Mexico. I think it's these ferocious

guard dogs that keep them out of sight!

Yesterday the Botanical Garden and Today's Bus Ride to Where.....?

Lots to see and do....

First we went to a Botanical Garden..

Yep- they grow 'em big in the tropics!

 After a calm bus ride we have a 

matador for taxi driver!

What little town did we go to?

Yesterday we took an hour long bus ride

to a little town we once stayed in for two weeks.

It appeared to us that time had been kind 

to this still peaceful place.

The bus driver texted almost the whole way...

Yep- even on the curvy two lane road.....

Having a fabulous lunch with a view....

Surfing is very popular here.....

Some vendors have umbrellas

to keep the sun off of them.....

Here's a place for sale- 

beach front and ready to fix up.

It used to be called Papa's Palapas....

Let the fiestas begin!

A very happy dog! 

Last time we were here ( about 14 years ago) 

there were lots of homeless and hungry dogs.

Did not see one- obviously the "Spay and neuter"

program that had just been started has helped.

Back at our "base camp".

Torrential rain ...wind gusts 85 mph!! 

I would say that winter is just around the corner.

Mt Shasta is finally getting snow and

may it snow til next May! That might alleviate

the drought conditions we have endured

 the past three years!

At our local Mt Shasta Middle School

some of the kids are helping build a Cob Oven

to be used in firing ceramics and on 

occasion probably making pizza!

wildfire that consumed over 160 homes.

Our little town has begun to recover and

rebuild, but this all will take time and money.

Our good friend Tony Tree had this to say about these two
cute camels. " they really enjoyed being petted and getting their necks' scratched, they were crowding around even after I ran out of dried dates! One seemed to really enjoy mouthing my arm and ears. Seemed to be after salt. Very gentle, more fun than hanging out with horses to tell the truth."

Tony is working in the Middle East and it's always great to see

positive photos like this instead of what usually is coming out of that area.

Our library needs help to rebuild!!

Almost a month ago our library was completely

destroyed by a wildfire that also consumed

our Community Center and over 100 homes.

We have had an amazing outpouring of  

donations and the restoration of our little 

town of Weed California has begun thanks to

everyone pulling together and helping each other.

Our library now has a tiny temporary space as we

work towards the rebuilding project.

And that's where you can help! 

We have received a lot of book donations

which are heartily appreciated, but

what we need now is monetary donations.

Every dollar counts!

So - here's my deal to you:

For every $100.00 donated I will

with backing ready to be framed.
