Feline Friday June 15, 2018

Lucy so enjoys being outside...
even tho' she's always on a leash.
That's for her safety primarily and
also for the birds and small animals
that she would be stalking.

We don't take Lucy for walks....
she takes us for walks!

After Russell ot I take walks with Lucy
she loves to just hang out watching the
 world go by.
Have a lovely Feline Friday!!

Tuesday Fun June 12, 2018

Unusual Friends

After spending a lot of time alone in the same room of the
owner's house, a crow and a dog grew fond of each other.
The crow is almost always on the dog's back,
the dog even barks when people try to touch his pal.
The owner built a custom harness for more comfortable rides.

Thankful Thursday June 7, 2018

Last week we had to take out two
dead Oak trees. We left the two stumps
about 4' tall so that Samuel could
carve the two stumps into Morel mushrooms.

2018 Photo Project
Photo #150

Here's Samuel beginning to shape the stumps
with his chainsaw.....

Now that the basic shape is there
he then cut in the Morel texture
before sanding and staining the mushrooms.

And here's the mushrooms after he applied
the Thompson wood sealer.
We will reapply the sealer when necessary.
Thanks Samuel!
And thanks Brian for Thankful Thursday!

2018 Photo Project

A quiet afternoon interrupted by
the noisy freight train!
Thanks Sandee for Wordless Wednesday!
And here's the recipe I promised you!

Mocha Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup unsalted butter softened
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup unbleached flour
1/4 cup unsweetened Dutch cocoa
2 Tbl instant coffee powder
(If crystallized crush to a powder)
1/2 tsp salt
1.2 tsp baking soda
1/2- 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2  - 1 cup sliced raw almonds
preheat oven to 350F
cream butter with brown sugar and then white sugar
until completely mixed. Add the egg and vanilla and mix
well again.  Sift together the flour, cocoa, coffee powder,
salt and baking soda. Stir into the creamed  mixture
until well blended. Stir in the almonds and chocolate chips.
Drop rounded teaspoonful's onto parchment paper
covered baking sheets. Flatten the mounds slightly with
the heel of your hands or a rubber spatula dipped in sugar.
Bake the cookies for about 12 minutes .  They are done
when they have puffed up and then subsided a bit to
have a crackled surface.  Cool the cookies on the paper for
a fewminutes before removing to a wire rack.
Enjoy!

Astro is such a sweet loving cat.

Ellen of 15andmeowing and Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs, provide Friendly Fill-in questions.
This week's questions:

1.My neighbors are the best!
We help each other through thick and thin.
2.The last thing I purchased online was cat food.

Lucy's food is difficult to find here and she is picky!
3. I have never gone water skiing, scuba diving or sky diving!
4.Anything is possible if you just focus

on the positive.
