"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." ~George Bernard Shaw

"Look at everything as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time." ~Betty Smith, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Eric Alder's Monday Photo Prompt 7/30/2012

photo by Eric Alder

We've climbed the stairs of love
Those heights weren't frightening
Instead they were enlightening
Years of ascending
Leading us to blending
We have become one-
Connected by sinuous invisible cables
Of passion and compassion

Magpie #128 Woof

Woof

Sit stay
Oh no-
Can't we play?
Bad dog!
Look at my shoe-
Hey-it was just a little chew
Come on now
Let's go for a walk
Oh yes yes yes wag wag wag
I won't chew and you can talk
Come on now-
Let's get up
I shouldn't get mad-
You're just a pup.
~~~~~~~~~
I think dogs are so loving and forgiving.
We are lucky to have them in our lives;
as they can teach us a lot if we let them.
Eric Alder's Monday Photo Prompt 7-16-12
When I drive on winding country roads
I keep my eye out and it ain't for toads
I'm looking sharp for those little deer
Who haven't a clue it's quite clear!
They jump about and chase each other
Into the street-their poor deer mother!
All ears and legs- cute as can be
How they survive is amazing to me!
Magpie Tales #126-Choices Made
She had waited by the window
Every evening at five
Wishing to see his jaunty walk
and his glance with a smile
As the gloaming covered the city
She now closed the blinds
Patting her tummy she murmered
"Okay kiddo-we're on our own"
MagpieTales 125- Sunrise to sunset
Chilmark Hay, 1951 by Thomas Hart Benton
Sunrise to sunset
The farmer and his horse work
So that you and I can sleep in
Knowing our daily bread
Will be rich from the hearty earth
and their endless labors.
~~~~~~~~~

Every year I grow what food I can and every year I appreciate
even more all the hard work done by our local farmers.
Support your local farmers by buying locally grown food.
Small family farms are a precious commodity.
