Kitchen Garden Cat

 

One of my favorite blogs is Kitchen Garden.

Cecilia Mary Gunther hosts this farmy blog

and it is a delight to read every day. 

 

Delicious Farmy Vegetables

 

Full of recipes and daily events such as 8 piglets

being born just a few days ago complete with

photos, videos from time to time and lots

of farm events such as getting the hay

 in before the rain hits.   

I've learned a lot about farming from her posts.

After working at our little Weed Library

Russell treated me to a tasty dinner at

our favorite restaurant

Café Maddalena in Dunsmuir.

The best restaurant in Siskiyou County!

Early the next morning Russell rescued a little

Goldfinch after he hit one of our windows.

Sitting outside in the rising sunshine with a

little bird isn't a bad way to start your day.

Meanwhile a little Black-capped Chickadee

had a drink from one of the water bowls that

we put out for the birds and animals that come by.

A bit later this little Goldfinch recovered and flew away...

had their breakfast at the sunflower feeder!

It's terrifying enough to be close to active wildfires,

but I cannot imagine being a firefighter.

We are all so thankful for these brave men and women

Oh to be a cat....

just think of that!

Sleeping on whatever pleases

while dreaming of tasty meeses.

Carelessly shedding furry hairs

and lounging on the sunny stairs

No chores for me-no siree

my life is aimless- so carefree

To be a cat would be a laugh

No bosses here- as I have staff !!

I thought it would be fun to repeat a post

from when Lucy was still a new kitty.

She arrived on our doorstep in late fall of 2010.

Six months old, borderline feral and happy to 

come into our home where we have been waiting

on her ever since!

Back then I participated in a poetry blog called

Jingle Potluck Poetry and wrote the above poem for Lucy!

Earlier this week we were in Portland, Oregon

visiting friends and family. We spent a few hours

at the Portland Art Museum's classy exhibit

of amazing old cars The Shape of Speed.

This Alpha Romeo on exhibit was made the same

year I was born. It's amazing how beautiful all these

cars are compared to todays vehicles. Our cars

may be safer, but they sure don't have that classic look!

Siskiyou Custom Milling in Yreka CA
Curt at Siskiyou Custom Milling is a perfectionist when it comes to providing us with precision milled cedar. And then he is an amazing animal lover, especially for cats. He took in some adult feral female cats who were pregnant. After their babies were born he had the mothers spayed and he is looking for homes for the kittens. Here are a few of the nine kitties and if you know someone who could take in 2 of them ( they are litter mates ) please pass on the info!
