Magpie Tales #242 Airborn.........

Cemetery in Dublin, Ohio
Tess Kincaid of Magpie Tales

You were the center of my universe
My teacher and first friend
You taught me how to treat others
And value each day as if the last
You are gone now but still here
Not buried under a cold stone
           But like
                       a  leaf drifting
           in the air
                  you are with me
       everywhere

Magpie Tales #222 Dead End

 Image provided by Tess Kincaid of Magpie Tales

Take this for what ails ya
It ain't aganst the law
It'll make ya feel much bettah
As you ingest for happiness
Erase sadness as you swallow
Tired of all your soggy sorrow
With one gulp and a deep breath
You've managed to hook up with Dr. Death

Saying goodbye......

Saying goodbye
With last words of wry humor
Hidden meanings while joking
Knowing in our hearts
We were saying Goodbye.

~~~~~~~~~
My Mother died far too soon.
The last time we saw each other
I knew- and I think my mother knew
we'd never see each other again.
In a strange way we joked lightly.
I still wonder if we shouldn't have done it differently.
Thanks to Poetry Jam for this compelling image.
Magpie #149 Terminal Habits
image by R.A.D. Stainforth
Ashes to ashes
Until one lung collapses
Stubbing life out as we sigh
Not a sterling way to die
Magpie Tales #24
Those lonely dark nights tossing and turning
twisting sheets around my legs
flipping pillows over to cool my aching head.
I was so sad during those heavy hours
missing my mother, losing my best friend
with no one to comfort me or wipe the tears away.
Many years later looking back I am amazed
surviving that dark time when everything looked grim
as if looking through a dirty window and seeing no hope.
Blue Willow Meals
Blue Willow dishes stacked so high
vested with crumbs of yesterdays pie
who would think that it was the last time
that all would change
that you would die
Now the dishes are silently stacked
into the boxes sadly packed
who would think that it was the last time
that all would change
that you would die
This is a submission to Willow's wonderful theme site
