Thankful Thusday! September 29, 2022

So very thankful for my very kind little sister-

( 16 years younger than me )

Not only is she a nurse, but she also

adopts older dogs who need a home.

She sets a wonderful example for others!

So a 70 year old man went to the doctor for a check-up and the doctor was amazed at what good shape the guy was in. The doctor asked, "To what do you attribute your good health?" The old timer said, "I'm a biker and that's why I'm in such good shape” “I'm up well before daylight on Sundays and out sliding around corners, "shootin" sand washes and riding up and down the steepest, wildest mountains I can find at the crack of dawn”. The doctor said, "Well, I'm sure that helps, but there's got to be more to it. How old was your dad when he died?" The old biker said, "Who said my dad's dead?" The doctor said, "You mean you're 70 years old and your dad's still alive? How old is he?" The old biker said, "He's 89 years old and, in fact, he went riding with me this Sunday, and that's why he's still alive, he's a biker too”. The doctor said, "Well, that's great, but I'm sure there's more to it” How about your dad's dad? How old was he when he died? The old biker said, "Who said my grandpa's dead?" The doctor said, "You mean you're 70 years old and your grandfather's still living!” “How old is he?" The old biker replied, "He's 107 years old”. The doctor was getting frustrated at this point and said, "I guess he went riding with you this Sunday too?" The old timer said, "No, Grandpa couldn't go this week because he got married”. The Doctor said in amazement, "Got married!! Good Lord!!! Why would a 107-year-old guy want to get married?" To this the old biker smiled and answered, "Who said he wanted to?"

Thankful Thursday and Feline Friday September 15-16, 2022

I am so very thankful for folks who have

rescued abandoned kittens and adult cats.

They did not choose to be abandoned and

left to forage for themselves.

Almost 13 years ago we found our Lucy

wandering around behind our home. We

asked around the neighborhood to see

if we could find who had lost their kitty.

No one knew and so we adopted our dear

sweet Lucy! Here she is with Russell in

the morning while he has his cup of coffee.

You can see she is on a leash as we take care

she does not wander ever again.

She likes to take us for walks and does

not mind the leash!

Here is Baila another rescue kitty.

Her family moved here from France a few

years ago and of course Baila came with them!

They are such dear people who foster

mother cats and their babies until the kittens

are old enough to be adopted.

Here are three kittens who are now in their

furrever homes! Their mother Zoe was

adopted by one of our neighbors!

Here is Zoe while she was still being

fostered until her kittens were old enough

to be adopted.

Now Zoe is in her furrever home and she

was adopted by one of our neighbors!

So I get to see her everyday. She also is

an indoor cat only so she is safe and sound.

When our neighbor needs to be out of town I

get to feed her and play with her.

These are just a few of the cats I know that

are rescue cats. Have a lovely day!

Awww Monday September 12, 2022

This past weekend we went to Astoria, Oregon for a reunion with many of Russell's Special Forces buddies. We barbequed and we all brought side dishes to share. It was a great time!

The day before Russell and I explored the Lewis and Clark National Historic Park and spent some time looking at Fort Clatsop and hiking one of the many trails.

We walked a total of 2 miles along the

Columbia River- so very peaceful!

The next day was the BBQ day! It was held in

the old enormous Bumble Bee cannery that now has

a lot of interesting history and lots of rooms

full of machinery exhibits. In addition there

are shops with lots of fun things

to purchase and also some restaurants.

Our reunion was held in the banquet room that had

wonderful views of ships and the Columbia River.

Everyone had a great time catchimg up, laughing

and telling stories! Here are a few photos:

It was very smoky that day because of all the
wildfires in Oregon.

This pigeon watched me closely for a bit....
