It's Awww Monday! July 27, 2015

This morning's visitor....
This is one of last years crop...
he wasn't too skittish, so I assume
he used to come up last year with
his mother and sibling.
Last year I would toss cut up pieces
of carrots to the deer. This year
I haven't as it really isn't in their
best interests nor mine.
Now I just talk to them,
they get bored and walk away.

However, he does look amused....
Thanks Sandee for Awww Mondays!

Saturday Six Words and Sunday Shadow Shots! July 25-26, 2015

One last day before going home...
Fred kept me company every morning
at the grocery store nearby that has Wi-Fi! There wasn't any where we were staying ....
Fred joined us for lunch at our
most favorite NW Portland restaurant!
Molto delizioso!!!

Close your eyes, inhale and you are in Italy!
This morning Minnie kissed Fred goodbye...

In a few hours we'll be home....
it's always fun to travel, but there
truly is no place like home.
Have a great weekend!

Fred's first visit to the Oregon Brewers Festival July 22, 2015

First Fred paid his respects to
Linus Pauling who is buried in
the Lake Oswego Pioneer Cemetery.
Our good friend Joe is the caretaker
there so when we visit we usually
stay there....and the neighborhood
is quite peaceful....

Fred's first taste- he and I shared.
We tried an ale from New Zealand.

Some folks take the brew fest as
an opportunity to get dressed up.

The festival is well prepared....

After a bit we had a lamb gyro
with garlic fries.

Okay- I think Fred has had enough!

It's time to leave the Festival and
go to Hubers for a great turkey sandwich
and a Spanish Coffee!

Made in front of us- this gentleman
has been a fixture at Hubers for decades!
Making a Spanish Coffee is an art form.

Back home using public transportation

Traffic was so slow and backed up
I chose to get out and walk the rest of the way.
One of the big reasons we don't
live here any more!
Have a great day and always be safe!

Fred visits Lake Oswego, Oregon July 22, 2015

First we drove 350 miles north on I-5
and went past lots of fields...

Fred accompanied us to visit
Kevin the Geek- the most awesome
computer guy we know!

Then off to a local LO brewery
for a much needed libation...

and finally to Zeppo's for pizza, pasta
and just a glass of tasty vino tinto...
Fred had a great time with our friend Kate.

Magpie Tales #279 Never Ending

Spiral Staircase image provided
by Tess Kincaid of Magpie Tales
Around and around
We circle each other
Around and around
We turn and spin
Around and around
We cannot stop
Around and around
There's no escape
Around and around
Until we fall down
Infinity sucks.
Thanks to Tess Kincaid for her
weekly Magpie Tales giving all
of us an opportunity to create
and also enjoy other's creations.

Saturday Words and Sunday Shadows! July 18-19, 2015

A great day for a hike!
Friday's hike took us up to Horse Camp
Halfway up Mt Shasta and only 1.7 miles
from Bunny Flat. However it was a 2000'
foot gain in elevation! Hard going up,
but easy going down!
Mt Shasta in the distance

Fields of flowering Lupin

Moss covered old trees

After only perhaps an hour
we all arrived to eat a very early lunch!

This stone cabin was built for mountain climbers in 1923. Mostly indigenous materials were used for construction, including volcanic rock and Shasta Red Fir. The lodge can be used for emergency shelter for climbers. Other features of Horse Camp include a freshwater spring, low impact campsites and a solar-powered composting toilet facility.

This is the closest we've been to
this magnificent mountain.

We all made it! It was a perfect hike!
Scramble over here for more Six Words
and here for Sunday Shadow Shots!
Enjoy your day!

So far this week.....July 16, 2015

Summertime lunch with friends-
French Onion soup, hot biscuits, Caprese salad
and fruit salad with Gingersnap cookies
for our dessert.

We had unexpected company....
I think he wanted to join us!
We drove up to Ashland to do some
Home Depot shopping and checked
out the Farmers Market....

Huge vegetables....

Oodles of plants for the garden....

And ready to take home bouquets
of summer flowers.

On the way home we spotted
lots of baby horses with their mothers....
I'll post more photos later!
Have a great day!

 I love bees!
Such an awesome garden and flower buddy.
I love being around them as they
work the garden gathering pollen to
make honey. They are amazing !

Bees are important and not just for their delicious honey. Read here to learn more.
Meanwhile don't forget to thank

Magpie Tales #278 Fashion Statement

Image provided by Tess Kincaid of Magpie Tales
There once was a witch Evanora
Who had a rather nasty aura
She was late for the train
And she tried to explain
It was important to wear her fedora
