Last week we had to take out two
dead Oak trees. We left the two stumps
about 4' tall so that Samuel could
carve the two stumps into Morel mushrooms.

Here's Samuel beginning to shape the stumps
with his chainsaw.....

Now that the basic shape is there
he then cut in the Morel texture
before sanding and staining the mushrooms.

And here's the mushrooms after he applied
the Thompson wood sealer.
We will reapply the sealer when necessary.
Thanks Samuel!
And thanks Brian for Thankful Thursday!

That is really clever! They do look like giant mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite foods in the world, they deserve to be commemorated.
ReplyDeleteWell now, those mushrooms are seriously cool! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to have to take out trees, this is a lovely way to preserve the memory of them!
ReplyDeleteHe is talented, those came out great.
ReplyDeleteStockton Yacht Club is going to do something similar with a tree that needs to come down. A sailor of course. What a lovely idea and far cheaper than trying to get that stump out.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. Big hug to you and Russell and tons of scritches to Miss Lucy. ♥♥♥
