Magpie Tales #248 Rotten to the Core!

borrowed from All Around Artsy Blog

There once was an odd couple caught stealing
Some apples from a pig who was squealing
Their excuse was so lame
Saying the snake was to blame
They were rude and totally unappealing

Six Words and Sunday Shadows....November 22-23, 2014

Our wild turkeys have no fear

However this bird will be dinner
While vacationing in Mexico we rode a little
bus with a family and their Christmas dinner.
This wild bird is a Cachalaca. They are taking
it home to feed it corn, bread and bananas
until Christmas eve.  I felt sorry for it, however
there's really no difference to our Thanksgiving Turkey
or a traditional English Christmas Goose. Other than
this family truly knows where their dinner comes from.

Here's more INFO about this bird.
And here are the links to Six Words
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Awww Monday November 17, 2014

On our last day at the Catalina
in Zihuatanejo we were joined
for breakfast by the three resident cats....

Later on while having a snack before
leaving for the airport one of the sisters
came by for a personal visit.
Usually the other two don't let her get close
to us....but they weren't there.

So she got oodles of skritches
and she was quite happy.
Til we got up to go.....

Here she is as we said goodbye...
I really wanted to tuck her under my arm
and bring her home with us....but
you know who ( Lucy ) would have been furious.
Her little face was so sad....made me sad too.
I hate goodbyes....

It's Feline Friday Plus a Visit to La Barra! November 14, 2014

Here's Lola- in her favorite dining room chair!

On our way to Barra La Potosi- our annual
"Field trip". This time our transportation
had a vast improvement. We got to the bus station
and the nine of us got to ride in a comfy new van!

Complete with on demand AC!

Here's Russell, Bob, Judy and John....

Ted's at the head of the table....

Ron, Jeff and Chris
and our waiter in the background...

This was our view!

Men watching food being prepared...

La Senora cooking tasty dishes!

Russell had Guacamole
( for our missing buddies Wynn and Roberto)

And I had Avocados stuffed with shrimp...

Some of us had very good Marguerita's
and you can spot a few cervezas in the background...

Earlier this fall a hurricane did an enormous amount
of damage to this little place. They lost considerable
beachfront and are just beginning to rebuild.
We had a very enjoyable day.
Our van driver returned to pick us up right at 2:30pm
and took us all the way to our hotel! Woo hoo!

A perfect sunset for our perfect day!

One day on the playa....

Enjoy!!

West Mexican Chachalaca

Mexican Tanager

There are about 7 crocodiles living in a small river
that empties into Zihuatanejo's bay.

This bird has to be a Green Heron...

Three Sandpipers...

Mexican Grackle
Probably my favorite to watch since they
are so intelligent and gregarious.

Minimalist photo of the day...
It was only 3:30pm...but seemed
later as the weather was so dark.

Magie Tales #245 It's a Wrap

Image provided by Tess Kincaid of Magpie Tales

There once was a flag named Old Glory
Whose past was more than a short story
Battles were fought
Life lessons were taught
Our flag is more than just an accessory.

It's Awww Monday November 10, 2014

It's raining???? Awwww...phooey!
Actually it's quite refreshing and tomorrow
the weather will have improved!
No beach time today...
So I will just go draw and read for now!

Right before the rain began!
We were all headed for the part
of the restaurant that is covered.

You can see how hard it was raining...
But now today it is clearing and
hopefully tomorrow we will be taking
a short bus trip to Barra la Potosi. Ole!

Bahia Zihuatanejo - looking
towards the marina and downtown.

Sunday in Zihhuatanejo November 9, 2014

A Day on Playa la Ropa

On occasion we will see Jorge painting
on the beach- yesterday was so windy he
had to hold onto his umbrella while painting
with his other hand. Yikes.
He paints amazing landscapes with his fingers.
I blogged years ago about him and you can
go to this link Here to see more!
And here's one of my drawings made a few days ago..

Have a fabulous day!

Finally I can share my photos!

Six Words and Shadowy Shots!

Early morning and the moon is still up...

Last nights sunset...

Breakfast with cats...

Our maid makes a towel cat...

And breakfast always begins with fresh fruit!
Here's a link to our  Hotel Catalina
And the link for Saturday Six Words
Plus the link for Sunday Shadow Shots

So I finally got on the internet after repairs were
done to the hotels three towers. But I am going to
follow Stephen Hayes advice and live in the moment!
So off I go to have breakfast and draw on the beach!

Ta Dah! We're in Zihuatanejo, Guerro!!!

Let the relaxation and
fun with friends begin!!

We have been here since Wednesday- and I have
had a bodacious amount of irritation with the
%#@^&*! internet service here. So I have "borrowed"
a computer so I can write-but no pics yet. The repair
guy is supposed to be here later today. Sigh.
Guess I'll just have to go lay on the chaise under a palapa
and draw inbetween swimming and having a
Pina Colada....rough huh?
If you go here:
http://katheworsley.blogspot.mx/2013/02/feline-friday-2-15-2013.html
You can see what I wrote the last time
we were in Zihuatanejo!
And Sandee if you can possibly link
me to Feline Friday that would be terrific!
Have a great day!

Uruapan and the Botanical Garden....a National Park.

We arrived and checked into
the Maison del Cupatitzio.
It is named for the Cupatitzio river that
runs through the park and also provides
electricity to the city.

There are so many water features and
the sound of water permeates the entire park
The Federal Government bought the park and the
surrounding mountain area ( 1315 acres ) in 1938.
In 1979 about 44 acres were transferred to the city
to protect and preserve the atmosphere, the climate
and the Cupatitzio river itself.

Numerous bridges span the river.

No two fountains are the same.

Lush greenery everywhere.
It's amazing to recognize the little plants we
grow inside our homes becoming huge
plants in their natural environment.

The river dominates the park.

Fabulous and imaginative designs for water.

Someone was kind enough to take our photo.

I wondered why an altar would be on a tree...

Then we watched several men dive into pools...

Bird of Paradise in a watery paradise.

Lunchtime at the mercado...

Russell had Enchiladas with chicken and mole sauce.
Now we are off on another bus to Zihuatanejo in Guerro.
More photos etc tomorrow! Ole!
