Wonderful hike with
beautiful wild flowers
Yesterday a few of us ignored the HOT
weather and went on a 6 mile hike on the Pacific Crest Trail near Mt Ashland.
Parts of the trail were shady and the sunny parts had wonderful views and oodles of wildflowers to enjoy along the way.
Here a few photos of our hike:
We first hiked through tall trees
on the shady trail...
Orange Columbine
Once out in the open we were
surrounded by all sorts of
wild flowers!
Dramatic view with granite boulders
and Orange Columbine
Queen Anne Lace and Lupin
More Lupine and an unknown yellow flower
Some of the old trees looked like creatures
Open meadow
It was a glorious day and not really
too hot compared to when we got home!
It was about 102F in the city of Ashland
and "only" 96F at home.

Don't forget to drop by Six Words
and Shadow Shot Sunday !
And have a great weekend!
I love those kinds of hikes. Nothing like taking Mother Nature in. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. Big hugs to you and tons of scritches to Miss Lucy. ♥♥♥
I know you love your hikes, Kathe. Wonderful to get out into all that beauty. :)
ReplyDeleteThat one tree is really impressive.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! We were around 104 at our tops yesterday. Ugh. Below 100 today though! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy the sights!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place to hike! And i love that you know some of the flower names.
ReplyDeleteI love the old trees - they do appear to be in motion, much like the famous 1937 movie Snow White here the mean trees were almost attacking our heroine. Lovely views on the trail, the shadows and shade allowing for a quick cooldown on a hot day...
ReplyDeleteLove those orange Columbine. Great hike. Very hot week in the Pacific NW!
ReplyDeleteThe trees and flowers are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a glorious outing!
ReplyDeleteMy Six Words
What a great way to enjoy the day, and escape the heat. It was hot and sultry here in Portland, but it was our boy's 35th birthday so we had fun.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the wildflowers as well as your lovely shadows. Sometimes heat just intensifies the experience.
