I am so thankful for our librarians

who either work from home or 

within the libraries. 

We can reserve books online and then

when notified can come to the library

and safely pick them up outside!

One can only watch so much TV!

**Work began on this magnificent Central Library, designed by Vincent Harris ,

 in 1930 and there was a grand opening in 1934 by King George V.
Only 9.25 km from the town of Worsley where my ancestors
came from ages and ages ago. The story my father used to tell
around the dining room table was that one of the Worsley's
took up with the local barmaid and then they emigrated to the USA...
back when it was still a colony.
Who knows if that's true or just a "family dinner legend".

The Joy of Reading

Swiss Family Robinson,
Secret Garden,
Little Princess,
Tom Sawyer,
Little Women,
Huck Finn,
and Nancy Drew
they were just the beginning
to my love of books and hours
blissfully reading under the covers
with a flashlight until caught.
Just one more chapter......
please Mom?

We didn't have a TV in our house until I was 10.

We weren't missing anything as our parents had

a room we called the library as it had shelves and shelves

of books for us to read. The only reason they got a TV

was because Queen Elizabeth was being crowned

and that was an important event that we should not miss!

To this day all of us are still voracious readers as are

all of our children. Our parents gave us such a gift;

the joy of reading. We were very lucky.
