The photo above was taken by
William Oliver of Bennington, Washington.
I saw it on our local Nextdoor website
and he was so kind to allow me to use it!
Have a lovely day!
I am so thankful for our librarians
who either work from home or
within the libraries.
We can reserve books online and then
when notified can come to the library
and safely pick them up outside!
One can only watch so much TV!
And thanks to Brian for Thankful Thursday!!

DeleteWhat would we do without libraries! My favorite library story comes from a military wife i knew who told me that at one point, the commander of their base was going to shut down the base library to save money as they'd been ordered to find ways to cut costs. He figured they didn't need a library, and the parents and teachers at the school on base were horrified, but other commanders of other bases heard about it and were also taken with the idea.
ReplyDeleteA higher-up in the command chain got wind of the plan, and made the announcement that if he came to any base that had shut its library to save money, and found they still had their golf course open, there was going to be h*!! to pay.
No base libraries closed!
Good story about the military base libraries- as far as I am concerned libraries as essential to a happy community!Take care and have a great weekend!
DeleteBeautiful photo, and dad really loves the chair one, too. Our local library is one of dad's favorite places as he and mom are avid readers. Mom typically shoos dad off to the library every couple of Saturdays to load up with a pile for the both of them. They do the call ahead/pick up thing, but they're also open inside, allowing only one person per aisle. Dad pretty much just plants himself in front of the large print section way in the back. Yeah, he's getting on in years.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and always leaving such nice comments! We are avid readers too and also avid Library Volunteers where ever we live! Right now we cannot...boo hoo....but hopefully soon things will open up!
