October 30, 2016 A few beach shots

Such a darling little girl....playing in the surf.

Local grackle hot footing it across the sand...

The beach is getting more busy with
Day of the Dead happening soon.

Jorge the artist is back on the beach....

Kids playing soccer....

Yet another glorious sunset....

A rather large caterpillar....does anyone
know what it's name is? I looked
 and looked and could not find it.

Poetry Jam~~~Flower Children

Happy Birthday Phillip and Paul !!!

Oh my sons
with happy smiles and grubby fists
my favorite flowers
.......

You brought me
Posies, pebbles, and sticks
Even a bug couldn't make me say "Ick"!
Squished dandelions
and sticky candy
Little boys can be so dandy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weeks theme on Poetry Jam is flowers-
I immediately thought of my two sons Phillip and Paul
Born in the '60's my true Flower Children
Happy April Birthday to Phillip
and Happy June Birthday to Paul!!
Just one more chapter....? Magpie #154
Central Library, Manchester, U.K., by Robin Gosnall**
I'm under the covers
Rapidly reading the thriller
My flashlight dims
Just as he kills her
"Hey-go to bed-
and turn off your light"
"Mom please just one more chapter
 and then goodnight?"
~~~~~~~

How many of us have had this conversation?
For other's takes on this image go here:

**Work began on this magnificent Central Library, designed by Vincent Harris ,
 in 1930 and there was a grand opening in 1934 by King George V.
Only 9.25 km from the town of Worsley where my ancestors
came from ages and ages ago. The story my father used to tell
around the dining room table was that one of the Worsley's
took up with the local barmaid and then they emigrated to the USA...
back when it was still a colony.
Who knows if that's true or just a "family dinner legend".

A Story of Childhood and Parenting

Pyromania
Growing up with three brothers introduced me to
 the perils of boys with matches.
One brother who shall remain nameless almost burned our house down.
So.....years later when I had two young sons and discovered the
youngest (who was about 3 years old at the time) playing with matches
I immediately sat down with him and explained the dangers of fire.
I thought I had made it very clear and I put the matches up very high.
A few days later my monkey son managed to climb up very high to get
to the matches and I caught him once again playing with matches.
"Holy smokes- how am I going to get him to not do this?"
I asked him what his favorite toy was and he told me it was
the Fischer Price School Bus.
I told him to bring it downstairs to the living room.
I prepared a fire in the fireplace and told him that since he
thought it was fun to play with fire I would show him exactly
how awful fire can be. I then told him to put the bus in the fireplace
and handed him the matches and told him to light the fire.
Right at that very moment his older brother came home from school
and said "My Bus!!!"
The fire was never lit and my 3 year old never to my knowledge
ever again played with fire.  As I write this I wonder was I an awful
mother or just a very frightened single mom?

A Typical Day Being a Tourist in Zihuatanejo

Russell always takes a photo of the floral decoration left for us by
the woman who cleans our room every day.....
Our days consist of eating a good breakfast of fruit, juice, coffee, rolls and
sometimes pancakes or eggs.
Then it's off to the beaach to swim, body surf if the waves are big enough, visit with
friends, watch the vendors ply their wares, take walks, look at interesting shells or
dead things washed up on the beach, read, sleep, and take photos of friends who are
leaving and going home........then it's back up all those stairs (202) to shower
and then make the huge decision of where to go for dinner. We usually take the
little combi bus to downtown, have a beer at a little bar and then
have dinner at one of the many little places. We try to go to different ones as you
never know what might be even better than the day before.....
Afterwards we wander around a bit before getting a cab ($3) back to our hotel
where we read and then once again....SNOOZE.
