I was in a jam.......

Actually I was making marmalade!
Meyer Lemon-Blood Orange Marmalade!

One of nine little jars    1-6-2015

Our Meyer lemon tree has six lemons
on it this year.....two were ripe so I
combined them with eight little Blood oranges
from our local organic co-op to make
this absolutely scrumptious marmalade!
Rather time consuming, but well
worth the effort! I'll be sharing a bit!
Cheers and have a great day!

Six Words and Sunday Shadows!!! December 6-7, 2014

Soon I will make Lemon Marmalade!!
Meyer Lemon Marmalade is the best!

 Our Meyer Lemon tree lives in the Art hall
during our cold winter months...

Here's the largest lemon so far....

We have a total of six lemons this year...
last year we only had two, but I managed
to make about 8 small jars...and actually
shared a few! Just imagine how many more
I can make this year!
~~~
Saunter over Six Word Saturday and then
sashay over to Shadow Shot Sunday to enjoy
what other folks have to say and how!
Have a great day!
It's Time for Awww Mondays! May 19, 2014
Baby plants can be cute too!
Last April we bought a Meyer Lemon tree
and managed to harvest 2 lemons.
This year our tree is loaded with
blossoms and since it is inside still
we have been busy as bees. In other
words we have been the pollinators
armed not with scopas. We have
to be artistic pollinators armed
with tiny paint brushes.
So far we have well over 15 tiny lemons.
That will add up to lots on
lemony delights later on this year!
Right now we can smell the lemony
fragrance  throughout the house.
Lemon Marmalade Extravaganza
When you have lemons ....make Marmalade!
(And use Meyer Lemons !)
A summer wedding prompted
 this marathon of Meyer Lemon Marmalade making
The facts:
9 batches of marmalade to make 132 4 oz jars
Took 81 lemons= 9 lemons each batch
22.5 cups of sugar= 2.5 cups each batch
27 cups of water = 3 cups water each batch
We used the wonderful Pomona's Universal Pectin
and used only 5 or maybe 6 boxes total!
Follow their directions!!!
It's a wonderful pectin and I will never use any other.
and it really helps to have Chef Jay's kitchen available!
It took us a total of just 6.5 hours from start to finish
Notice please I am now allowing myself a beer! Whew!
Here's a photo of the marvelous pectin!
Used so little sugar compared to other
dextrose laden pectins- which made
our Marmalade much healthier and tastier.
So- where's the sunshine and lounging chairs????
Happy Weekend everyone!
