Weed Library Building after the Wildfire

Not only did this building house our library, 

but it also had Early Headstart and 

Great Northern Services who provided help

to those in need with a food bank,

 energy assistance,Meals on Wheels and

other assistances. Great Northern already

has a temporary location at Premier West Bank

150 Alamo Avenue in Weed.

Weed Wildfire Update

Looking up hill that once had homes

September 17, 2014

There was a very informative meeting at the college last night and

good plans are being implemented to help folks rebuild and ensure that

no one is overlooked- of course the Red Cross is helping too. The Portland

office of Roseburg Mill has plans in place to help any employees needing 

assistance and the mill will be re-opening after inspections. 

The same goes for the High School and Elementary school. 

In a way I think this fire will help Weed pull itself out of the "funk" it has been 

in since the lumber industry was crippled back in the 70-80's.

We will be involved in helping the Weed Library

 rebuild as it was completely destroyed.

 ( along with my photography show that was up...

and those photos can be reprinted thank goodness!!)

So- life goes on and  will be challenging for awhile 

but thank goodness there were no injuries nor loss of lives.

Our little town of Weed had a wildfire

rampage through the NE side.

No injuries nor fatalities, but

100+ structures were destroyed;

mostly homes and some businesses.

Our little library was destroyed also.

Awww Monday turned into Awww Tuesday! September 2, 2014

Yesterday Labor Day was truly a Labor Day!

No time for blogging while we cleaned out

the garage. Long overdue as Russell had not

unpacked some boxes since we moved 2.5 years ago!

Meanwhile- some of our young relatives are

back to school this week! Some for the first time!
