A-Z 2014 Challenge D is for Dientes

The Tooth Fairy's Stash  April 4, 2014

Los dientes de la sabidurĂa = Wisdom Teeth
~~~~~
I came across this little tin of treasures
the other day ~ packed away in a box
that I hadn't opened in decades.
Besides my children's baby teeth here
are my youngest son's wisdom teeth
 removed when he had to have braces.
In addition there are matches from a friends
 1975 wedding, our beloved Fred's
obituary from 1978, a compass, my high
school graduation watch, dice from
dungeons and dragons and other
"treasures" from long ago.
After taking this photo I carefully
placed the tin back in the box and
put it back up on the closet shelf.
Somethings are best left to rest.
~~~~~
The A-Z Challenge requires that we
post a blog each day in April except
for Sundays for each letter of the
alphabet. Today the letter is D.

Magpie #117 Memories of my Mother

Tribute to Helen Elizabeth Hauss Worsley
 My Mother died 26 years ago this October 15th.
I've never stopped missing her nor appreciating the lessons she taught me.
One of my fondest and strongest memory of her was when we all went
cabin camping up at Olallie Lake at the base of Mt Jefferson in Oregon.
She was already ill, but was a good sport and came with us.
Our cabins were rustic and without electricity or running water but
they did have wood stoves to cook on.
So all one afternoon my mother and my brother Paul tended the fire
and made sure our dinner of scalloped potatoes and baked salmon
was cooked to perfection. It was a wonderful meal and is a delicious memory.
My mother gracefully made things look easy and effortless.
We always referred to that meal in the woods as Mothers' Loaves and Fishes dinner.
Happy Mothers Day to all !

Magpie 33

Is this a liquor to sip or?
A scent to adore?
Mi amor...?

Is it a remembrance of lusty times
Or a scent of rosemary thymes?
Mon ami?

Or is it love scented fragments
Of golden hued moments
Glistening con tigo ?
Long ago?
Wasn't it just yesterday?

Blue Willow Meals

Blue Willow dishes stacked so high
vested with crumbs of yesterdays pie
who would think that it was the last time
that all would change
that you would die
Now the dishes are silently stacked
into the boxes sadly packed
who would think that it was the last time
that all would change
that you would die

This is a submission to Willow's wonderful theme site
