Happy Tuesday! August 24, 2021

Baker City, Oregon to Salt Lake City, Utah!

We had to drive 6 hours and 22 minutes to get there! It was a long but peaceful and scenic drive. I had only been to Salt Lake as a 7 year old child so it was as if I'd never been there before! My father and I were driving to Cambridge MA. It was shortly after the war and he was going to Harvard to get his degree in Architecture. Once we got to Boston we met up with my Grandmother ( his mom ) who had secured us a nice furnished apartment. Then my mom and little brother flew out from the Bay Area to join us for this adventure! We were there for 2 years and another brother joined us during that time. I actually walked my Mom to the Hospital across the street from where we lived as she was in labor! My dad was in school and a neighbor took care of my brother while I as an 8 year old held my Mom's hand as we walked to the ER.  I look back at that event and am amazed at how grown up I was.

Okay, now back to Salt Lake City. Here's the view from our hotel room when we got up early before blasting off to St George Utah! Only another 4 hour drive to get there thank goodness!

Here are some photos from the drive to St George:

Lots of farmlands before we got to the
Spectacular and amazing to my eyes- I had never ever seen anything like this. And this was just the beginning!
More to follow tomorrow! Cheers!

  1. Great shots. I love the first part of this post. Walking across the street to the hospital, because mom was in labor. Adorable.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Love and hugs all around. ♥♥♥

  2. You sure are seeing some amazing sights!

  3. You walked your mom to the hospital? Wow!
Desert area is always so beautiful.

  4. What a story from when you were a little girl. Enjoy your trip. Mom doesn't like Utah. She says she saw it once and that is enough and there is nothing in Utah but rocks. Most people we know do love it, though.

  5. wow! What an adventurous life you had for a little girl ~ and what lovely photos here too ~ Xo

  6. I'm happy you got to revisit a place from you once visited as a child. Those memories are usually scarce. I'm sure you gave your mother reassurance and comfort walking her to the hospital. How convenient to live across the street from one. :)

  7. WOW you were a very grown up and responsible young lady at 8.
We were in Moab, UT in 2017 the red rocks are amazing as are all the Nat'L parks in the area

  8. Nice photos. I have never been to that part of the country.
