A TO Z 2015 Challenge! L is for Libraries and Love!

On September 15, 2014 a wildfire blazed through our little town of 3,000. Approximately 90 homes were burnt to the ground and another 60 homes were damaged. Our library, Senior nutrition center, Grace Presbyterian church, the Holy Family Catholic and community center were completely burned to the ground. Parts of the Roseburg wood products mill were damaged. Miraculously no was killed and only 3 firemen were injured.

Yesterday thanks to generous donations and city assistance our Library re-opened in a
new location! Here are a few photos
of a few of many volunteers setting up
the new location!
 Assembly always required!!
 Amazing amounts of cardboard
needing to be recycled!
And....here come all the new books!
Not to mention all the donated books!
Tomorrow I will post photos of our
libraries new home!!
A great big Thank You goes
out to everyone who helped!
We love our library!!

  1. That's awesome it's open again! Can't wait to see the photos tomorrow.

  2. I know you love your library. It's a wonderful thing how your community came together then and are still together today.

Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs. Scritches to Miss Lucy. ♥♥♥

  3. Yay!!! I am so glad that I saw this post, Kathe! I have thought about the destruction, and especially of the library, so many times. This really gladdens me. :)

  4. A happy ending to a difficult time for your town!

  5. Wonderful and wonderful to have those voluteers. What a disaster, sure brings a community together.

  6. I recall your post about this at the time. So glad to see that the new library is up and running.

I love comments and will attempt to reply to each one. However, lately I have been getting "Unknown" comments that are linked to some sort of web page. I will never open this sort of comment and will immediately mark as spam. I am not interested in opening something that could be detrimental to my blog security etc. Never have enjoyed hackers! Thanks!
