Melting Snow Reveals

Years ago Russell and I took a metal workshop.
I wanted to learn how to weld etc and be able to make
art out of scrap metal.  I didn't really grasp how to weld,
but had a heck of a lot of fun rummaging in the scrap piles
and making stuff out of other's discards.
Using a metal torch I made this wacko face.
It's been outside since we moved and has been buried
in the snow which is now finally melting.
My plan once we're all done working on the house is to
take some more classes and really learn how to weld
so I can go to junkyards and make some fun stuff for outside.
What sort of art do you create or would like to create????

  1. Good for you, I do ink and watercolors of plants mostly. It will be fun to see what you do.

  2. I haven't painted anything since retiring as an illustrator ten years ago. Now I devote myself to writing but every now and then my fingers itch to hold a paint brush again.

  3. There's no art in me, i love other people's creations. It's funny, but since the leaven was left out of my lump, i find i can just appreciate stuff, without wondering if i could recreate it or copy it or do better than that or whatever. An artist friend of mine says that's what she often thinks when looking at artworks.

Stephen, just for your own amusement, pick up a paint brush. Even if you throw away the results, enjoy the process.

  4. That's cool. I like to make collages. Also good way to recycle. : )

  5. I think knowing how to weld would be great.

I am not all that artistic but I am creative. My one talent as far as anything artistic is sewing. Mostly I do draperies and bed linens. I used to make a lot of clothing but now it is too labor intensive versus buying off the rack.

  6. I'm impressed. I'm still looking for the artist in me.

I love comments and will attempt to reply to each one. However, lately I have been getting "Unknown" comments that are linked to some sort of web page. I will never open this sort of comment and will immediately mark as spam. I am not interested in opening something that could be detrimental to my blog security etc. Never have enjoyed hackers! Thanks!
