Magpie Tales #207 Summer in the City

Hot summer days
Asphalt cools as the sun goes down
 We invent new games
Until our mothers call us in

Arthur Leipzig's 'Chalk Games'

Thanks to Tess Kincaid for Magpie Tales
Have a great week!

My mother grew up in the city (Cincinnati, OH) - I would like to send this post to her if I may? :)

Yup, those were the days when moms actually felt secure in letting their kids go play outside. I remember.
Loved the chalk photo to accompany the prompt image, Kathe.

I grew up in a small town, no asphalt to play games on ... grass had to do. Love how you added the 'old' photo.

That asphalt could get pretty damn hot!

Childish creativity , not stymied by mere concrete jungle , so much more powerful a force , cheers Kathe

Lovely, Kathe. I'm standing here in my childhood days ready to play chap-door-run! Imagination was well spent in outdoor days.....

Such a nostalgic poem...I like it! I remember playing hopscotch in a cul-de-sac as a little girl. So much fun!!
