I always have fun figuring out the baby quilt.

It doesn't get finished until the baby is here.

So in a few days this will go to a local seamstress 

who has a long arm quilting machine. 

Then I will bind it and put a special pocket

label on the back with the baby's name and

birth date. And then the baby will get his quilt!   

 

 

Meanwhile let's not forget McGuffy's Reader!

More Baby Quilts! August 24, 2017

Between both our families there will be

four more babies ....so I have been busy sewing

up a storm.  To me it's painting with fabric! 

Lots of girls are expected! Only one boy in the works.

Plus one 6 year old who never got one of my quilts before...

This one goes to Austin Texas.

Below is the "Big Boy Quilt"

Mailing off to Colorado today!

Another baby girl quilt....

Eventually will be mailed to Colorado.

This is my favorite quilt....it reminds me

of a board game! Perhaps I should make up a simple

game for it with small stuffed animals as 

the tokens to use playing the game? But then I would also have to make large cloth dice! Hmmmm?  

Yet another baby girl quilt!

This one will be going to England.

All my baby quilts have a pocket on the back

for the baby's name and birth date etc.

Plus a personal message. And the baby has

a pocket for some little toy or rattle.  

News alert- just found out another boy will be arriving! 

So I still have one  more quilt to make...yay!

Six Words and Sunday Shadows August 22-23, 2015

Creating a quilt is a process.....

And off to the quilter it goes! Yay!

 

While I was at the quilters I picked up

the other quilt I made 3 weeks ago.

 

 

Now I just have to sew on the binding.

I love making these baby quilts!

Three more baby quilts finally finished!

I started making these months ago

for three little boys due sometime this fall

and finally finished them yesterday!

The first one has been mailed off to Boston

as he was born September 29th.

I found this darling giraffe material

in Ashland, Oregon.

I call this quilt 

"Stand Tall and Reach For the Stars"

This will be going to North Carolina

eventually where this little baby boy's

US Navy daddy is stationed.

I had a jungle theme going with 

all three of these quilts.... 

This one is called "Jungle Buddies"

Last but not least this quilt will

be mailed off to Portland Oregon

once little "Max" is born.

The title of this quilt is 

"Lions and Tigers and No Bears Oh My"

A Weedy Update...or What Has Lucy Been Up To?

We are pleasantly settled in our new home
here in the "hinterlands" of Weed, California.
Our garage is beginning to actually resemble
a garage rather than a warehouse for immigrants.
Russell keeps busy with little projects and is very
happy to be here.
I have completed two baby quilt tops and I am
waiting for the weather to warm up enough so
that I can begin my vegetable garden.
Rumor has it that by May I will be able to do that!
Meanwhile here are a few new photos for you to look at!

Lucy surprised me by paying close attention to my sewing...

It still snows now and again, but nothing so serious
for us to even worry about. It usually melts by mid-day.

Here's the second baby quilt top I just finished.
Now to get it to the quilters!
