Our latest Pacific Crest Trail hikers !

WIB, Hardtime, Boulder and Buzzard.

Their names are their trail names.

 

We love hosting PCT hikers. They come from

all over the world and are so interesting

to talk to and share experiences.

One of our good friends is an online

Trail Angel and picks up hikers who text him

for rides from the trail head to Mt. Shasta.

Then he gives us a call if some need a place to stay.

It's a lot of fun!

It has been very hot here and will continue

to be in the high 90's for another week.

This lovely doe has been hanging out with

us for about a week. She had a fawn with her,

but now we haven't seen it for several days.

We're afraid perhaps the coyotes or the

cougar may have gotten it as there have been

a lot of coyotes yipping nearby at night and

some folks have seen the cougar.   

Makes me sad, but I know it's just part

of living out in the country.

caused our skies to be reddish and smoky this morning.

Fawns are usually born in early June.

This one looks about a month old judging

from it's size. They are so cute! We usually see

them earlier, but there have been cougar

seen in our area, so the does have been hiding.

Watching the Trains Go By Sunday July 1, 2018

Last Thursday we went over to the

Black Butte Center for Railroad Culture

to listen to toe-tapping music. 

Brenden Phillips son of Utah Phillips

and Baby Gramps were featured to play.

Fun music and lots of interesting people!

Before the music began in the boxcar we watched

two freight trains pass each other...

taking turns being on the siding.

One went south to LA and the other headed to Portland.
