A Game of Patience, 1937, Meredith Frampton
Are you sure you want to see this card?
It's rather like Eve's apple...or Pandora's box
Some say it's real...I say it's surreal
The future is best not known
As it's rarely a good deal

Go Fish see how others dealt with this image
and many thanks to Tess Kincaid for Magpie Tales!
Nice verse, interesting picture by an artist new to me, so I learned more this morning as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat one for the day as always!! Enjoy your day -- hopefully the gray skies will clear -- or so they promise???
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one. It's better to not know the future.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. :)
The future is best not known indeed.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. :)
Opening a Pandora's Box? Now I don't know if I want to take that card!
ReplyDeleteYes, the future is coming and that letter is this!
ReplyDeletebrilliant...my take on this has a nod to the future too!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I don't ever want to know what the future holds...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid we'd sometimes play "What If" games and one of them was what if you could tell the future. Would you want to know? I always said "NO."
ReplyDeleteThis is such a charming image prompt and you certainly did it justice, have a nice Sunday
ReplyDeleteMuch love...
It is a dangerous game, trying to predict the future.
ReplyDeleteI've been dealt some bad hands here lately... I'm almost afraid to look at the cards!! Great poem!
ReplyDeleteit's impossible to unsay something. or to unthink it. who knows what the future is but if it is 'foretold' to you you're more likely to manifest it or at least spend too much time expecting it.
ReplyDeleteWe both mentioned Eve's apple!
ReplyDeleteRevelations can be painful, rightly so! Nicely done Kathe!
ReplyDeleteHank
Ah good one , Kathe....." Difficult to see , the future is "
ReplyDeletePlaying patience certainly tries one's patience! LOL
ReplyDeleteAgree, best not to know the future but we can all make the best of our present no matter what hand of cards we are dealt. This lady should realise that and search her heart and go for it.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done ~ Eddie

If Eve had not picked the apple, we would have missed out on fashion shows!
ReplyDeleteOh you are so right, no, please don't show me the card!!!
ReplyDeleteBetter not to know, and to face it as it comes! Nice little capture on the prompt!
ReplyDeleteI love the words this prompt inspired you to write. Very interesting and makes a person think. I'm glad I never could foresee the future.
ReplyDeleteThis is marvelous (and also the first time I have seen the pic for #226....I am so behind). So I guess your magpie cinches my decision to not go have my Tarot read in downtown Silverton this coming weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it and in just a few words!
ReplyDeletehmm..depends on what the card will reveal..
