"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." ~George Bernard Shaw

Pausing for a moment to read...

I'd rather read than watch TV and most of
the time I read mysteries, novels based on history
and other frivolous and sometimes grisly subjects.
Russell primarily reads what he calls "real books".
In other words non-fiction.
Every once in awhile I come across a line or two
in my reading that resonates and stays with me.
Here's one such example:
"Our job is to enjoy the earth and take care of it.
Worry robs us of our faith
and our joy and gives us nothing in return."
This is from a James Lee Burke novel Feast Day of Fools
A grisly suspense novel that if one pays attention
has some gems and lessons to learn in between the dire action.

  5. Much like your photo today, we can learn and enjoy from either style of book prose (Mark Twain comes to mind). Although, I am the one who prefers non-fiction...but there is never a 'right style'. We should read and enjoy an engaging book often!

  15. Hi Kathe ~~ I am glad that you take time to read. Your present book sounds nice. That line sounds Biblical, as per God we are stewards our earth.
I always have a couple, or more(!!!) books checked out but barely ever find time to finish one.

I love comments and will attempt to reply to each one. However, lately I have been getting "Unknown" comments that are linked to some sort of web page. I will never open this sort of comment and will immediately mark as spam. I am not interested in opening something that could be detrimental to my blog security etc. Never have enjoyed hackers! Thanks!
