Feline Friday! and Friendly Fill-ins! January 20. 2023

Jaguars are the third largest cat in the world — after the tiger and lion — and the biggest in the Americas. They can grow up to 170cm long, not including their impressive tails, but their size can vary a lot between regions depending on the size of the local prey.
Black jaguars live alone, marking their large territories with their scat and by leaving distinctive claw markings on trees. They can kill just about any type of prey they encounter but prefer large animals such as capybaras, alligators, deer and armadillos.
Obviously these cats are NOT pussycats!
However.....
Jaguar populations are listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Deforestation and poaching are just a couple of the threats contributing to their decline. The black jaguar’s range once spanned from the southern United States down to the tip of South America. However they have been virtually eliminated from half of their historic range.

Many thanks to MessyMimi who is now hosting Feline Friday!

  2. Jaguars are beautiful, i cannot imagine poaching them, but i can't understand the mentality behind poaching anyway.

Worry is useless. It's like being in a rocking chair, you feel like you're moving but you're getting nowhere.

    1. I am more of a luddite. I still have my old phone number from the 70' and have it hooked to my flip phone- however we still have a landline as if the electricity goes out the landline still works! The landline is a new number since we moved. Cheers!

  7. The black jaguar is beautiful. I tend to worry over various things. I know it is pointless, but I can't help it.

  8. Jaguars are gorgeous! Right now we have a cougar in our village. She has not bothered any of the chickens, cats or dogs, but she has been keeping the deer out of town. Love your fill ins! Purrs Marv

I love comments and will attempt to reply to each one. However, lately I have been getting "Unknown" comments that are linked to some sort of web page. I will never open this sort of comment and will immediately mark as spam. I am not interested in opening something that could be detrimental to my blog security etc. Never have enjoyed hackers!
