Magpie Tales #285 Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time
in a land far away
A dollhouse sat alone
No children there to stay

The nursery was empty
Babies grown and left
And the lonely dollhouse
Was really quite bereft

She sits there dreaming
Waiting for that day
When little hands once again
Will come to her to play.

  3. Quite poignant. Mrs. C. had a dollhouse her parents gave her and we'd been lugging it around for years. She finally made the daughter of a co-worker very happy by gifting it to her.

  7. Yes, it is so sad to see that dollhouse. At least there is hope.

  8. Well loved things can take on a life of their own, and sometimes that includes taking on a ghost as well.

  11. I've have seen dollhouses at garage sales and it always makes me feel a bit sad..some of them were built with hands of love. I think you captured the feelings of the dollhouse.
