Magpie Tales #267 On the Road Again

Image provided by Tess Kincaid of Magpie Tales

 Gone are the days
Of slowly traveling
Rocking back and forth

Today landscapes zip by
Reality reflections....
Only momentarily glimpsed

Too bad we lost the art of travel.

Trips, Travel and Vacations

A lifetime gift for a child....... When I was only seven I received a wonderful gift

A small blue trunk - it wasn't too hard to lift

I looked inside and what did I see?

A doll ? And all her clothing ? This is for me?

"The heck with the doll" I said as I pitched her out.

"I want to use this for traveling here and about."

And so I began my imaginary trips

Packing clothes and stuff for cruises on ships.

Or maybe I'd take it on my little red wagon

Hoping to find a most friendly green dragon.

My small blue trunk was my way of learning

What life I wanted and obviously was yearning.

And years later I am still packing for pleasure

Traveling with my best friend- our life is an adventure!

Oaxaca ...here we come!

Travels in search of art and good food...

Painting purchased on the street
in Morelia, Michocan
November 2007.

Once again Russell and I are dragging out our little
suitcases and packing up for a trip to Mexico....

However this time is different what with the possible
health issues at this time. Swine flu? Pandemic?
So, rather than panic and run around trying to
cancel travel arrangements, we have secured the
recommended prescriptions for this specific flu.
Unless things really get worse we will be
leaving within the week for a 2 week stay
in the capitol city of Oaxaca. We will be traveling
to some little artisan villages, taking cooking classes
and generally enjoying this beautiful old colonial
and historical city. We were here once before and loved it.
I'll be taking our laptop with us and will attempt to blog daily
with a few photos. That way you can travel along with us!!
Pig print purchased in the same city park
in Morelia, Michocan. On Sundays artists set up
their easels and finished work to sell in the
park outside the baroque cathedral in downtown Morelia.
