Russell's Great Grandmother's Orchid Cactus

When we moved up to Vancouver WA
late last year we didn't have enough room
for our two huge Orchid Cactus in our house.
So they hung out in the dark cold garage.
We watered them and then fertilized them
right before we brought them out in April.
Amazingly once we brought them out
one of the cactus put out a prodigious amount
of flower buds. Look at this gorgeous plant!
We inherited these two plants as no one else
wanted them. They do take up a lot of space.
But they are so beautiful and the flowers smell divine!
Once it becomes too cold this fall,
into the garage they will go.
Have a lovely Wednesday.

It's Awww Monday! April 17, 2017

We met this cutie pie dog last
weekend - his name is Moonshine!
Adorable!

Here's a photo of our blooming
Orchid Cactus. We've had this plant
for years and it only started blooming
when we moved. The original plant belonged
to Russell's Grandmother Grace Bebe.
Below is another photo where you can see
how big this plant is!

Thanks to Sandee for Awww Monday!
Have a great week!

Wordless Wednesday April 20, 2016

When we got home a few days back from our vacation we saw that our Orchid Cactus had bloomed! This plant was started from Russell's Grandma Bebe's plant some years back.

It has bloomed only once before so it's exciting to see it bloom once again. I think it might be all the sun we get here as opposed to the light we got when living near Portland Oregon.

It's quite exotic looking!
Have a great day!
