Last Day in Guadalajara and on to Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico

On our last day we focused on going to the Hospicio Cabanas.
It was originally a workhouse, hospital, orphanage and almshouse.

The highlight of the interior is a series of monumental frescoes by Jose Clemente Orozoco .
It incudes one of his most famed creations,
the allegory of The Man of Fire (1936-39)
Hospicio Cabanas was made
a Unesco World Heritage site in 1997.

The Man of Fire

Pogo Exhibition
One piece called With a total lack of grace refers to people who have everything materially but are short of lack and not having to lose the parameter assessment of what they have. Way between worlds, installation created with seven thousand globes in three different sizes and made of plastic balls manufactured in China, plays with the idea that "the world is made in China that" since everything is built there. On the other hand, Dream talks about what builds the American dream to create a fantasy world, starts much oil and ends with a fictional war. Dream is created with using outdated
paper money meticulously cut and shaped into this fantasy world.

Great place- an oasis in a busy city...

Now we're headed to Uruapan, Michoacan
Second biggest city in this state. It has a
wonderful botanical garden that we wanted to see

Adventure Update!

Road trip to Tequila, Jalisco

 Jose Cuervo associate shows us
how the Agave plant is cut and trimmed.

He cut one in half so we could taste
the inside. It was a lot like jicama.

We then went into the town of Tequila to tour
the Jose Cuervo Distillery. We passed on the tour
as we've toured other distilleries and chose to go
find something to eat.
The raven is in the Jose Cuervo courtyard as
Cuervo means Raven in Spanish.

 No samples from this truck...

The Senora and her helpers prepared
a very tasty lunch for us.

These two women made tortillas non-stop.

The view from our table. We think
the local Mercados have some of the best food.
Much better than going to a "Gringo" restaurant!

We stumbled upon an old barrel factory that
might have been a distillery at one point.
It was a photo delight for me- so many gorgeous
opportunities. Here are a few...

Beautiful barrel and ladder

Around every corner was another visual delight.

We sat outside while waiting for our bus to
take us back to Guadalajara...

Have a great day and evening!
