Every summer we look forward to meeting up
with PCT hikers and hosting them while they
are in town. This year we have teamed up with
a good friend who is a CHP and gets calls from
PCT hikers needing rides or extra help. That's
where we get to play- last weekend we hosted a
woman from Germany who needed to recuperate
from heat exhaustion. This weekend we hosted
"Beanpole "and "Clementine" for one night and
got Clementine on the Greyhound bus for Portland
and afterwards dropped Beanpole off at the trail head.
Meanwhile, our friend called us with yet another
hiker needing help as she had injured her toe
and needed a home stay for about 5 days.
Lauren will be here until Saturday when her
dad will fly in from Ohio to hike with her for
a few weeks. Her stay was well timed as she got
to meet some of our great neighbors who
were over for a potluck dinner.
Lauren is at the very end of the table on the left.
It was an Awwwsome evening!
Hammock time for Edward and Christopher
This morning's visitors while I was watering...

ReplyDeleteI read that book, Wild about the PCT and enjoyed it a lot. I just can't imagine trying to hike the trail though. How cool for you to be able to help out the differetn hikers. I bet they have some great stories. Loved seeing the deer.
ReplyDeleteI have read books of people on the trails getting help from trail angels. That is so sweet of you to help.
