Wordless Wednesday May 11, 2016

Russell and Mike ready to make firewood!

Siskiyou County necessity...

More Siskiyou County required equipment...

Why the tree died...

Angry biting ants do not like being disturbed...

Yikes

It went down between two smaller trees

KaBaam!

Looking from the top towards the stump

Russell resting on his laurels...

The Knob Cone Pine tree was approximately
96' tall and approximately 40" across the top of the stump. The top of the tree snapped off when it fell so I am not sure how tall it really was. Now to figure out how to buck it up to the top of the hill so it can be split. If need be we'll just take the  wood splitter down to the tree and use the ATV and trailer to bring up the split wood. Besides this tree Russell and Mike took out 3 Oaks that were also dead.
Most likely from the 4 year drought

  2. Wow. I'm not even a fan of ants when they're NOT angry! :)

  3. No matter the cause, it's sad when a tree dies.

  4. That looks like a whole lot of hard work and you're rewarded with angry ants. That's just wrong. Have a blessed day.

  5. Hard, hard work too. I've done this with my dad when I was a kid. I wasn't a lot of help, but I was there during the process.

Have a terrific Wordless Wednesday. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Miss Lucy. ♥♥♥

  7. Pine Beetle and drought is doing in some Washington forests too. Much as I love trees sometimes they have to come down. The beetle infested pines are fodder for a horrible fire. Good job.
