I am just learning how to "stitch" panorama
photos and post to my blog!
The first image here is the
John Day Fairgrounds
where some folks camped last weekend
when we were there for the BMW rally.
This photo is of the Painted Hills outside of Mitchell Oregon.

Sonshine B and B in John Day Oregon
After a gorgeous scenic drive up the Columbia River Gorge and over to John Day via Biggs junction that takes you through Wasco via Hwy 206, and onto Hwy 19 through Condon, Mayville, Fossil, Service Creek (where you can have tasty hamburgers), Spray, Kimberly, past Sheep Rock and onto highway 26 past Dayville and Mt Vernon ...finally arriving 5 hours later in John Day. I love the drive. Hardly any traffic and far preferable to Hwy 26 over Mt Hood where one has to endure RV's slowly inching up the road!
Pausing on a bridge under construction.
Finally arriving at our
preferred destination in John Day!

An oasis of calm on a busy weekend!
Yummy breakfast! Fruit, juice, coffee and eggs and bacon!
Warm rice pudding!Breakfast of Champions!

Do you have a bald squirrel?
We have been feeding our local squirrels for years now and have never seen a bald squirrel until this past month. "Harry" showed up about 2 weeks ago and the last time we went to
the Backyard Bird shop we asked what we could do for the hairless guy. So, they gave us this recipe:
For Squirrels with Mange
- slice of whole wheat bread
- butter with flax seed oil put on top
- spread peanut butter over that
- sprinkle with brewers yeast
- roll up into a log and cut into 3-4 pieces
- kind of squish each piece into a ball
- serve to your mangy squirrel
"Harry" seems to like this treat and he already looks healthier as his tail no longer is droopy but is curled high ! Thanks Backyard Bird shop!
PS it's been a few days now and he looks much
better...maybe we see hair growing? YAY!

Once upon a time there was a quilt
Our good friends in the Netherlands
emailed us a few weeks ago that they
had a new addition to their family..
little girl Losanne Riva Frederique
what a lovely name....and here she is-
so of course I immediately needed
to make a quilt for our newest babe...
and here it is-
But wait- there's more...
a teddy bear and here it is:
But Russell and others think the
bear needs eyes...so here they are:
and that's the end of my story.....

Dinner and a couple of movies.....
Before we get to the dinner and movies...here's a couple of photos from this week.
First off here is our nephew Jacob
playing baseball-
he's a really good catcher!
Here's a shot of Russell with...
gasp...a baby!
Little Miss Evelyn Mae..
Russell is practicing to be
a politician since he is
running for City Council this Fall.
Now...on to the dinner part...
This is a fabulously delicious
salsa to be eaten with just about
any meat or during any meal!
and this is a tried and true easy
and delicious dish-I usually use
a crock pot and cook it slowly
all day.....yummy and a crowd pleaser.
this little movie is entitled "Bird Brain"
and finally this is the limited edition
of "The Unexpected" Enjoy
