Ole! Esta Feline Friday! October 28, 2016

After a day of frustrating delays
due to Aero Mexico Airlines...
( not mention the two other flights
that Aero Mexico fouled up four days earlier
to further disrupt our vacation plans )
we are finally in Zihuatanejo at our
favorite home away from home....
Hotel Catalina on the Playa de Ropa!

Leaving downtown Mexico City at 6am
for a quick ride to the airport...
unlike the ride into the city at 6pm the prior day...
Aero Mexico managed to delay two planes long
enough for us to miss our plane to Zihuatanaejo.
The boarding agents refused to let us on the plane
even though we could see by the information
board that it was still boarding other passengers.
(I think they had given our seats away.)
They sent us away with tickets for the next day
and vouchers for a downtown hotel that took
an hour to reach by taxi as it was horrendous traffic.
Aero Mexico refused to put us up in any
of the closely located hotels saying they did not use them.
But in talking to other people also inconvenienced
Aero Mexico only sends people to the close by
hotels if they are flying first class.
WARNING: do not fly Aero Mexico ever...we won't.

View of the beach as we begin to land!

The stairs ( over 100) leading to the beach...

Catalina's lobby- the best !

Sunset over Banderas Bay from our dining room table

One of the two resident cats...she knows I'm a sucker!
She got a few bites of my dinner...

Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Verde...

Our complimentary breakfasts always begin
with fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice,
coffee and bread...thank goodness we are here!

Another Day in Oaxaca October 25, 2016

When we travel we never really have a set plan.
We just wander and find interesting places and museums.
Yesterday we first explored the Stamp Museum.
Now, some of you might say "Why?"
Well- we've been to this Museum before and found
the individual special exhibitions so interesting.
Here are a few photos from our visit:

Entry courtyard where they have
complimentary coffee.

The museum is comprised of many small
buildings connected by lovely little gardens.

A sculpted hand chair covered with stamps!

One room had an exhibit of one artists
children's book illustrations. They were such
amazing works of art that I had to find a bookstore
so I could find one of his books to buy!
His name is Mauricio Gomez Morin

Cathedral near our B and B

Not exactly Pacific Northwest cervesa-
but refreshing.

The visiting pigeon really wanted our peanuts...
we did not share.

This mornings breakfast fruit plate!
All our breakfasts have been delicious!

Our Amazing Day in Oaxaca October 24, 2016

Being in Oaxaca opens doors to
amazing visual treats.....
especially during the Day of the Dead .....
celebrations begin long before the actual day.

Peaceful courtyards...

Lead to altars such as this.

Meanwhile in the Zocolo Russell talks with
a few of the many protestors that filled the
entire Zocolo.

By evening the protestors had left and
the streets were filled with crowds of people.
We were not sure what was being celebrating
as Day of the Dead is not til next weekend.

But everyone was having fun dancing with
the monsters and others in costumes...

or just with interesting faces...

An American playing his guitar and singing the Blues...

Santa Domingo de Guzman church near our B and B

Endless fireworks through the night...

This mornings breakfast!
Have a lovely day!
