Six Words and Sunday Shadows August 8-9, 2015

We have been busy this week.....

Orange sunrise due to wildfires
August 7, 2015

Smoky skies create an eerie light
inside our home....

Russell has been tremendously
busy cutting down dead trees due to pine beetles and the drought.

Lots of nicely stacked wood
waiting for the log splitter we
will be borrowing from friends.

Everywhere I turn there's another pile!

I think the "Chefette" owes him
a big steak dinner??

Meanwhile.....

We listened to these incredible musicians...
who are here for a week of study
and performances.
This is the third year for this event.

And after our Friday hike they came
to a friends home to play after
we had eaten our pot luck lunch...

And here's why children should have
music lessons....

Have a great week and do visit

Re: firewood... we have a fireplace and we haven't used it in year. OK, we live in Florida.

  7. The drought is terrible for sure, but having to cut so many trees down due in part to it is sad. Lots of firewood though...our children took piano lessons for many years, our daughter played the flute, our son the sax and trumpet. Although they don't play much any more, the lessons and discipline they learned will last a lifetime. And math and music work well together in learning, and our software developer son learned his math well due to musical training...

  10. All of my children had music lessons. Even if they don't do much with it, it rounds out the education and teaches them so much.

That is a lot of wood to be piling up, it's sad that drought and bugs are taking so many trees.

  12. I left a comment this morning but I don't see it and wouldn't want you thinking I failed to pay you a visit. I did enjoy the music, and it was so nice of them to come and play for you. There's something special about hearing any music performed live. I hope you're having a great weekend.

  17. Thank you for the music - wonderful kids. Our woodpile is nothing like yours, but it should see us through the winter.
