A controlled fire to keep us safe !!

The past few weeks our neighborhood
has been under going fire reduction by
Cal Fire. They have crews going through
all of our properties cutting away all flammable
brush, thinning trees and cutting
dead wood off of living trees.
A lot of the debris was chipped and spread
back where it had been removed. However some land
like ours are so steep in places the resulting debris
has to be burned in place.
Now they are in the process of burning all
the piles of debris from the brush removal.

Some of our neighbors actually refused Cal Fire's help.
Which is ridiculous and makes no sense at all.

Anyhow- here are some pictures that illustrate
the awesome job being done. Our property has
gained value in this process as it will be safer and
healthier because of Cal Fire!

The work crew are all trustees from the
Deadwood Prison in Fort Jones.
They are very hard workers and we appreciate
them being here to help us keep our home safe.

Scary looking but actually safe......

Building brush piles

This fire is a good fire!

All the men worked very hard

Lots of burn piles

Our garage is in the background.

  1. Hey, if they're going to come in and do it for you, why not?

  2. So many homes burn down because of untended underbrush. I'm glad you are taking advantage of this program.

  3. Those controlled fires are perfect, we have them around here too! I remember the first time I saw one and thought it was a real fire, that was scary!

  4. Very smart of you to take them up on it, i do hope your neighbors never have cause to regret their refusals.

Having it done by prison trustees is wonderful! These men now have a skill they can apply in the open market, and are making a difference in the world even now. That's a great program.

  5. They know what they are doing and they do a great job. I can't imagine folks not wanting their help. I can't imagine.

Have a fabulous day honey. Big hugs to you and scritches to Miss Lucy. :)

  6. Some people don't get the fact that the brush and dead wood have to be cleared or it could be a danger if an uncontrolled fire starts.

Glad it worked out well for you.
