I can't remember the author but my favorite books as a kid were "The Enormous Egg" and "The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet".

"Nicholas Needlefoot" by Phil Nesbit and "The New House in the Forest," by Lucy Sprague Mitchell. I didn't dig the authors out of my memory, I still have these 'ancient' books on my shelf, both early 1940's. Later it was "National Velvet" and "The Egg and I."

Add The Chronicles of Narnia and The Once and Future King, and you have nailed it!

I still have a battered copy of The Little Prince with art by me inside the front flap. I use the word "art" loosely.

I can't imagine my life without books. I devoured Tin Tin Comics and any Enyd Blyton's I could lay my hands on. Tom Sawyer was part of my childhood too.
