Saying goodbye......

Saying goodbye
With last words of wry humor
Hidden meanings while joking
Knowing in our hearts
We were saying Goodbye.

~~~~~~~~~
My Mother died far too soon.
The last time we saw each other
I knew- and I think my mother knew
we'd never see each other again.
In a strange way we joked lightly.
I still wonder if we shouldn't have done it differently.
Thanks to Poetry Jam for this compelling image.
It's Feline Friday!!! May 31, 2013
While visiting our friends Tom and Steve
in Lake Oswego I had to take photos of
their two cats Oscar and Lisa.
They each have distinct personalities.....
Oscar is so relaxed and laid back....
While Lisa has some issues with
strangers in the house....
Oscar just doesn't understand Lisa...
And Lisa doesn't understand Oscar,
but she's trying to relax!!!
Poor Lisa- it's hard being only 12" tall.
Facepuke Problems
Fellow bloggers- Has anyone else had a problem like what is described below? I suspect I have had my facebook hacked, but when I have written them I get NO reply except the one below. Would any of you send Facebook your pesonal Goverment ID such as a drivers license?
Good Morning .
 I have a huge problem with my facebook account. I do not have a mobile phone with texting capabilities.
When traveling out of town two days ago I used my lap top and tried to access my facebook. For some reason Facebook decided I had to submit a mobile number to Facebook so as to get a confirmation code to put in to prove who I am. I am not able to do that as my cell phone does not have texting capabilities. Facebook thinks I should follow the instructions below to be able to access my facebook account. This is a horrible idea as this is how identities are stolen. I am assuming that this email below is spam and a scam and that somehow my facebook account was hacked. Please advise me as to what I can do- or should I just forget it and not use facebook anymore?
Thanks.
Hi,
Unfortunately, we can’t assist you until you reply and attach identification that verifies the name submitted in your request.
Please attach a copy of one government-issued ID (ex: driver's license or passport) or two documents from a respected institution or business. Together these documents must show your full name, photo, and date of birth.
Some examples of acceptable documents include:
- School or work ID
- Utility bill
- Marriage license
- Legal name change paperwork
- Credit card (with the number blacked out)
- Birth certificate
If possible, save this file as a JPEG and cover up any personal information that we don't need to verify your identity (ex: address, license number). We also recommend sending your attachments over a secure connection. Find out more here: https://www.facebook.com/help/183256078471165/?ref=cr
Note that we won't be able to assist you until we receive the proper documents.
Thanks,
The Facebook Team
Lest We Forget
Let Freedom Ring
Large or small
Our flag stands for all of us
We are so fortunate to live here
In a country that has freedoms
That others still seek
~~~~~~~~~
Today my oldest son and I put flowers
on his grandparents grave..... I had not
been there before and I found it amazing
that his Grandmother's grave just says
"His Wife" .... Really?
How about "Beloved wife, mother and blessed friend"?

Thanks Mary for helping me raise my wonderful two sons.

Six Word Saturday and Shadow Shot Sunday 5-25-2013

My green babies need warm weather.....
Some vegetables are already planted in my garden,
however a few days ago we had a cold snap. From
40F at night to 30F meant plants had to be covered
or risk getting frozen......so these starts are waiting
for a few days before joining the rest of the gang
in the garden. I have hot peppers, eggplants, tomatoes,
zucchini and butternut squash waiting for a few more days...
In the garden there are already kale, beans,garlic,onions,
basil (very covered up!), potatoes, lots of herbs and spinach.
YUM!

Eric Alders Monday Photo Prompt 5-14-2013

Photo by Eric Alder

There once was a dryer vent quite useful
It was Halloween and it was crucial
Not used for a wash room
 Instead an important costume
But afterwards  it was wrecked something awful

Erci Alder posts a photo for us to ponder and write about.
This weeks photo had me stymied for quite a bit!

Magpie #168 Love's Vision

photo by Togan Gokbakar

We've been together for so many years
Living with laughter and a few tears
I don't see the sagging nor any wrinkles
Loving your eyes that have a twinkle
Looking at you I can only see
That gentle man who is everything to me

My Garden Has A Dino Mascot!

You might recall this little dinosaur
that Russell discovered while removing the old deck.
He was our "Remodeling Mascot" but now that
the remodeling is complete-he has been promoted
to "The Veggie Garden Mascot!"
As seen below...

He's quite comfortably esconced in his new home
underneath the Spearmint plant.

There is always something to do!

What began as this in December.....

Timber!!

Is now firewood for the winter!
Our great friends who just live up
the road brought their log splitter
up yesterday and between Russell, Bill and
Ewana short work was made
of that huge tree!
We ended up with about 4 cords of wood.
We shared half with Bill and Ewana.
Thanks to them the job was made so easy!
Nothing  better than neighbors helping neighbors!

Eric Alders Monday Photo Prompt.. 5-8-2013 ( two days late...)

Autocar Grill by Eric Alder

There once was a guy named Henry
Who had marvelous ideas generally
He was horribly bored
Manufactured the Ford
With factories using the line of assembly
~~~~~~~~
Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947) was an American industrialist, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique of mass production. Although Ford did not invent the automobile, he developed and manufactured the first automobile that many middle class Americans could afford to buy. His introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry. As owner of the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and best-known people in the world. He is credited with "Fordism": mass production of inexpensive goods coupled with high wages for workers. Ford had a global vision, with consumerism as the key to peace. His intense commitment to systematically lowering costs resulted in many technical and business innovations, including a franchise system that put dealerships throughout most of North America and in major cities on six continents. Ford left most of his vast wealth to the Ford Foundation but arranged for his family to control the company permanently.
Wildlife Weekend and Aww Mondays
The weather on Sunday was a bit dramatic with
the huge clouds in the sky......
I spent some time just sitting on the deck watching
the world go by.
As I was going outside I spotted Mr Tom Turkey
 outside the dining room window having a
morning snack under the bird feeder....
Of course the robins are always on the lawn
looking for a nice tasty worm to eat.
Wow what a surprise ! The local Jackrabbit hopped
by and didn't realize how close I was.
When he did spot me he hopped away a bit....
look how much longer his back legs are.
All the better to run away.....
He ( or she...not sure ) stopped- looked at me one more time
and speedily hopped away.....it's amazing how
the animals here really do blend in when not moving.
Awwww he's pretty darn cute!
Looking back on the A-Z Challenge
Old Apple tree in Etna California
May 2013
A little over a month ago I heard about
the 2013 A-Z Challenge. Since I had
in the past challenged myself to produce
year long blogs "A Snap a Day" and "A Word a Day"
I knew that the A-Z Challenge would be
not only be fun, but would give me the
opportunity to  discover new blogs and
bloggers that otherwise I never would have.
By and large it was a good experience and
I'll participate next year!
The rules were simple and I was a bit surprised
that some folks could not follow them.
How hard is it to comment?
The worst offenders were the ones that had
so many ads etc on their blogs that created
in a way a "traffic jam" on my lap top.
Some of that was due to my lap top being older
and our internet service up here in the
mountains can be iffy.
 I learned to avoid those type of blogs.
Looking forward to following the bloggers I
"met" during the A-Z Challange.
 Enjoy your day and have a great year!
