WORK...... the new four letter word!

No rest for the wicked they say...
for the last 5 days we have had our
morning coffee and then off to work outside....

One would never know we're retired!
We bought this used quad for snow removal,
and it is now paying for itself in pulling out Manzanita
to be burned......here Russell is pulling out a large piece...

Now he's putting it on top of the fire....

At the end of our work day.....
we usually spend about 5-6 hours
 Russell tends the fire......
and I get a beer for each of us while we sit
and watch the fire die down....

And look at beautiful Mt. Eddy ....
What projects are you working on at your home?

  1. It look so pretty there. This time of year gets boring in suburbia. There just aren't many chores to do in a urban yard when it's 20 degrees out.

  3. If I could work in an area as beautiful as that, I wouldn't think of it as work at all!

  5. Play is also of four letters...backbreaking chores look to go a little better with gasoline engines and four-wheel-drive. Felling trees seems like work, but machinery, fires and beer make this an acceptable bit of work:)

Today's chore might include simmering a chicken frame for soup. Not too inclined to do much else on a cold day!

  8. The view would be worth it, i think.

As for retirement, i'd rather wear out than rust out, as the saying goes, when that time comes.

  10. Love how the chair casts such an interesting shadow shape - barely matching the chair itself! Sometimes business leads to an appreciation of beauty around you when you take a break!

  17. I am amazed at how little time we have now that we are retired. How did we ever manage to work?

  18. It appears that retirement for you two is harder than working but pleasantly so. These are fabulous pictures and I love the sound of your day. I was forced into retirement last December by a boss who, for many reasons, couldn't cope with me! But light at the end of a bleak tunnel. I`m going back to work in a couple of weeks - managing a department within the same organization. He is going to die when he finds out!!!Love, love, love it!

I love comments and will attempt to reply to each one. However, lately I have been getting "Unknown" comments that are linked to some sort of web page. I will never open this sort of comment and will immediately mark as spam. I am not interested in opening something that could be detrimental to my blog security etc. Never have enjoyed hackers!
