Freezing and Thawing Snow Creates Crystals

Freezing and thawing snow creates crystals.
Our snow is melting sooo slowly that when it freezes every
night the snow forms crystals. Our night temperatures hover at 30F
and during the day it's up to 50F. Hence these lovely crystals.
Here's another photo:

  7. The crystal is amazing - the result of cold, sun, heat and cool. Nature is an artist as we could not dream of creating this unique and beautiful art. A charming and lovely snow crystal!

  10. beautiful pictures! I remember this phenomenon from when I lived in Montana; that and the long icicles that would melt, then freeze, then melt, freeze, etc.

    enjoy Sunday!
