Making the flight

If I don't make this flight

I'll never live it down

I have to see this sight

  1. Very cute poem. I can't remember ever missing a flight in a lifetime of travel, all over the world.

  5. Very good.

My first flight ever was in 1957 when it took three days to fly from London to Singapore. I have been flying the world ever since. As a teenager on my way home from boarding school in England to Germany one very snowy Christmas, the weather was so bad the flight was cancelled. I went back to the school friend I was staying with. Her parents later called the airline to find the flight had indeed departed and the BEA staff had been looking everywhere for me!

Another time (and I swear I only ever had two mishaps) was when I somehow got my timing wrong and took 2020 hours for 2200 hours! I had to get that plane out of Cyprus as I was flying to Nigeria 36 hours later! How my parents got me to that airport I'll never know. The BA flight was taxing on the runway. I remember a ground attendant running with me and my three year old son across the tarmac whilst I could see from the corner of my eye, someone else running with the steps. Doors opened, we ran up the steps to be greeted by a male flight attendant: "Good evening Mrs....... (name given). What kept you?" and handed me a glass of champagne.

I love comments and will attempt to reply to each one. However, lately I have been getting "Unknown" comments that are linked to some sort of web page. I will never open this sort of comment and will immediately mark as spam. I am not interested in opening something that could be detrimental to my blog security etc. Never have enjoyed hackers! Thanks!
