Spring is here and so is......

Spring Cleaning.....ow!

Russell is purging his side of the bathroom
cupboards after running out of room!
Helpful hint: NEVER EVER bring toiletries
home after a vacation. And then never ever use them.
This is 17 years accumulation of unused hotel goodies.
Unopened-and they will go to Goodwill....
Meanwhile, our lovely weeping Cherry tree is in full bloom.
Happy spring everyone!

Last full day

Tuesday was our last full day and we spent part of the morning with a realtor looking at property....we are "thinking" about this piece....sort of in the middle of this photo outlined in white chalk.....

the rest of the day we wasted (heheheh) sitting by the pool and resting up for another fine dining experience at La Boheme....best place in town!

Yet Another Looooooong Bus Ride

Mama mia......7 hours on the bus.....one 5 minute pee stop...but we are here now in La Paz...a very very busy city...teeming with lots of locals on the malecon....we are staying at Club El Moro which is on the south end of the malecon. Very nice...a little oasis with pool and bar-restaurant.
We got a good nights sleep and now we will explore the city for the next 3 days. Photos will be attached later as the wi fi here does not work...ah well....Mexico.

Auction Day

The big auction was yesterday and I am sure that at least $5000 was raised for the local schools in Palo Verde-the little village nearby. Schools in Mexico are terribly funded. The teachers get 90% of the budget and only 10% goes for supplies and buildings etc. So, the local residents of Punta Chivato have an annual Golf Tournament plus auction as one of the fund raisers for the schools. My quilted runners and aprons raised $150....yeah! Pam and Harry's Gourmet Dinner raised $700 wowee....
Here's a few pics..

After the brunch

After all the guests had departed and
all the dishes were cleaned and put away-
Russell made cocktails-

While Harry and Kathe cleaned and freezer wrapped
the 20 or so lobster tails that were dropped off...
what would cost a lot in the states-were $40 here..
Not to mention all the strawberries that were
delivered-wowee
and Pam picked all the crab that was brought by too....

Kathe gets close instructions by the pro!

Pam kept picking the crab and Kathe and Harry made dinner...
What a day!!!

Brunch Time

The table is set and totally gorgeous! We are ready.....
Russell and Harry are ready........................

Kathe and Pam are certainly ready.....................

Pam puts the finishing touches on the first course....

Russell carefully opens the champagne for Mimosas!

The honored guests arrive...................

The very happy and quite satisfied
guests at the end of the 2 hour brunch!
We served fruit plates with beignets
Caprese salad with crab quiche
Steak and eggs with Bernaise sauce
and
Blueberry Sorbet with Molasses Lace Cookies.....
Pam cooked it all
Kathe served it all
Russell did all the dishes
Harry ran interference and made sure it all went smoothly!
What a team!

Tuesday is the BIG BRUNCH DAY

Today all of us will be working our little behinds off in preparing and serving Pam and Harry's
Brunch that was donated TWO years ago and the Oberto's are just NOW cashing it in-Russell and I will be the French Servers-I even have a silly French Upstairs Maid costume complete with curly blond wig and mesh stockings....oooo la la.....

Meanwhile....yesterday the ice cream man drove 14 miles down our dirt road to play his little song (all ice cream trucks must come with that tune) and so of course we had to have a cona !
Big smile from our friendly ice cream guy-he was serving maplenut ice cream.....yummy and eat fast as it melts quickly in the heat of the day!

Bye bye..................

A Typical Early Morning

Even before sunrise I wake up to another day in paradise!

The morning colors here are spectacular
I happily wash the dishes from last night's delicious fish dinner ( Russell caught the fish!)
And then I might make a little drawing..................another good start to another great day

Annual Pig Roast

While I spent part of the morning drawing..........................
Chaparro worked on chewing up his rawhide bone........................
Later on in the late afternoon we went to Shell Beach for the Annual Pig Roast and potluck...
I think this year it sould have been called the Revenge of the Pig Roast as the pig was so huge...
It got stuck inside the BBQ and when the men were attempting to get it out the metal bar got bent from the weight and the pig being stuck....such drama!

A trip to Mulege to visit a fabulous artist...

Yesterday Pam drove us to Mulege (about one hour away) to meet Maria who is such a nice person and a fantastic glass mosaic artist. Here are some pics of her work and her garden.........
